QCMI received the 2014 Family-Owned Business of the Year Award in the 51-150 employee category from the San Diego Business Journal on April 3, 2014. The company was recognized as one of San Diego’s outstanding family-owned companies, based on its longevity, sustained growth and community involvement in the San Diego region. In addition, QCMI received a 2013 Healthy Employer Award from sponsors eUnitedHealthcare and the San Diego Chargers. Along with the Healthy Employer title, QCMI won thirty tickets (valued at $600) to the November 10, 2013 Denver Broncos / San Diego Chargers game at Qualcomm Stadium. QCMI also was recognized on San Diego’s Rock 105.3 radio for their commitment to providing a healthy workplace for their employees.

CEO William “Bob” Grande was named the 2012 Santee Person of the Year by the Santee Chamber of Commerce.
According to the chamber, the leader of the Santee-based precision manufacturer was chosen because he’s created a company that uses “sophisticated and technologically innovative equipment while providing jobs to our local citizens.”  His vision for local economic development has supported that of the local Santee Chamber of Commerce. With Grande’s leadership QCMI has helped local high-school students, the unemployed and returning Vets with training and good jobs. His generosity reaches out to the local community through school donations, adopt-a-family programs and facility tours.

COO / CFO Rick Urban won the San Diego Business Journal’s 2013 CFO of the Year Award in the small privately-held company category. The San Diego Business Journal hosted its seventh annual awards program to honor the men and women who are the financial stewards of San Diego’s business, government and nonprofit sectors.

At the 2013 San Diego East County Chamber Annual Dinner & Awards Celebration, the chamber recognized East County’s outstanding companies. QCMI received the 2012 Manufacturing & Construction Award based on its contributions and involvement in the local community.

Quality Controlled Manufacturing Inc. is pleased to announce it received the 2012 San Diego BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in the 25-to-99 Employee Category. The 15th annual awards luncheon was held on Dec. 4 at the Town and Country Resort Hotel and Convention Center. As a winner QCMI’s entry will be forwarded to the Council of Better Business Bureaus, the parent organization for the BBB network, to compete in the international competition.

Workplace Excellance AwardQCMI was named the San Diego Society for Human Resource Management (SD SHRM) 2012 Workplace Excellence Awards’ Marble Winner in the Under 150 Employee Category | Small Business.

The 13th Anniversary of the Workplace Excellence Award’s was held on Nov. 7 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. QCMI was recognized as one of San Diego’s outstanding workplaces based on the employees’ nomination and its Education / Training Competitive Workforce Initiative HR practices.

“The prestigious Marble WEA Medallion award is external validation of QCMI’s excellent HR practices and of QCMI’s position in San Diego as an excellent place to work,” said HR Manager Becky Quinn. “Yes, this is the ‘Oscars of HR’ and it’s with great pride we accept the honor for our team’s community and company-wide achievements.”

QCMI was recognized by the San Diego Business Journal as one of San Diego’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies for 2012.

The award recognition was based on the percentage increase in revenue between fiscal years 2009 and 2011. With a reported 63.04 percent growth, QCMI ranked 68.

QCMI Receives UTC Supplier Gold
Hamilton Sundstrand’s Jeff Devenberg presents QCMI CEO Bob Grande and COO Rick Urban with the prestigious United Technologies 2011 UTC Supplier Gold Award.

At QCMI corporate headquarters on June 20, 2012, Hamilton Sundstrand executives awarded QCMI CEO Bob Grande with the prestigious United Technologies UTC Supplier Gold award for excellence in performance from September 13, 2010 to September 13, 2011. This occasion marked the third consecutive year QCMI achieved this significant honor.

QCMI is one of only a few complex machining companies in the United States to achieve UTC Supplier Gold over five consecutive years (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013). Using stringent criteria, the program acknowledges a supplier for their exceptional performance over at least 12 consecutive months.

The UTC Supplier Gold process is a method for aligning and linking the entire value stream around customer-focused metrics. The rigorous criteria address the applicant’s quality, delivery, lean practices and customer satisfaction. In achieving UTC Supplier Gold status, QCMI joins an elite group from multiple industries who supply UTC businesses.

On February 10, 2012, CEO Bob Grande received the Santee Chamber of Commerce’s 2012 Business Leadership Award.  The chamber awards celebration was held at the Barona Resort and Casino.

Grande was recognized for his business leadership. His vision for local economic development has paralleled that of the local Santee Chamber of Commerce for the last 33 years. QCMI currently has over 95 employees. Over 40 percent of the employees have been with QCMI for over 14 years, with 60 percent residing in the East County region.

On December 8, 2011 Bob Grande, CEO of Quality Controlled Manufacturing Inc. was named the Most Admired CEO in the Medium-Sized Family Owned Business category by the San Diego Business Journal.

Nominated by California Bank & Trust, Bob was honored as a Most Admired CEO for his exceptional vision and leadership of Quality Controlled Manufacturing Inc. In addition the judges recognized Bob’s more than 33 years of contributions to his award-winning family-owned company, employees, customers and the San Diego community.

Over the years, Bob Grande has brought his four sons into the business: Doug Grande, Business Development; Bill Grande, Second Shift Supervisor; Jeff Grande Quality Manager / Lean Coordinator; and Tommy Grande, Production and Planning. Bob and his is team have created a corporate culture that resembles a family of more than 95.  The entire company applauds Bob and is honored to have him as their Most Admired CEO!
